Is it this bad? The extremists just killed 24 people in Kwajafa village in Borno State by disguising themselves as preachers. Sources say that the insurgent group rode into the village in Volkswagen Golf cars, telling people that they were preachers, and just when they gathered enough people, they opened fire, killing a total of 24 people, leaving over a dozen others injured.
They also set the village mosque on fire with residents still in it. A survivor noted that the most killed were people who could not tell that the said preachers were just Boko Haram members in disguises. Investigations show that Kwajafa had suffered two major attacks from the militants in the past, forcing the residents to flee to safety but when peace returned, a number of them also returned to their homes. If they had known, they would have probably stayed back.
Meanwhile, the Borno State Accountant-General, Hajiya Mairo Bunu, on Monday appealed to donor agencies to mobilise support for the rehabilitation of victims of Boko Haram insurgency in the state.
Bunu made the appeal when she presented some relief materials to Governor Kashim Shettima for the victims.
