Meet the family who live on a floating fortress, miles away from civilisation

Wayne Adams and Catherine King live in their turquoise and magenta float house off the coast of Tofino, British Columbia
Freedom Cove as it is called is truly a get away from it all. The drama, the hustle and bustle that come along with city life. A couple identified as Wayne Adams and Catherine King created a completely self-sustainable float home consisting of 12 platforms that houses wooden structures, green houses and living spaces all interconnected through a wooden pathway. The magenta and turquoise floating structure, off the coast of Tofino, British Columbia, was built in 1992, and the couple, who have two children, live in the home year round.
The structure is self-sustainable in all ways as they grow their own food, drink water from natural sources and get electricity through solar panels and photo voltaic energy generators. They drink from the rain during winter and drink from nearby waterfalls during summer.
They have lived in this structure for over 20 years, and they say it's an on-going ever changing project. ore photos after the cut

The Couple

The home is self sufficient, with solar panels providing electricity and the couple gathering water from nearby freshwater sources. They also grow fruits and vegetables in their greenhouses

The structure is off the coast of Tofino, British Columbia, a town on Vancouver Island of a little under 2,000 residents. King and Adams said that their home is an ever-changing project

The couple enjoy having visitors to the home and even host tours in which visitors must travel by boat to the structure
