The Nigerian police has confirmed the killing of at least 9 residents of the Obrikom and Obor Communities in Rivers state. The unknown gunmen invaded the community yesterday (Friday), killing 9 and leaving two injured.
Spokesman Ahmad Muhammad told Punch newspaper that the gunmen had also set the house of a local politician, Vincent Obagu ablaze in the course of the attack.
This attack occurred after a curfew placed on the communities were lifted on Thursday. The curfew was put in place after thousands of protesters hounded the INEC office demanding a rerun of the March 28th elections.
